ProShares UltraPro Short QQQ (SQQQ)
SQQQ, or the ProShares UltraPro Short QQQ ETF, is an exchange-traded fund that aims to provide three times the inverse of the daily performance of the NASDAQ-100 Index. This index is a benchmark for the technology sector, comprising the 100 largest non-financial companies listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange. By investing in SQQQ, investors can gain exposure to a leveraged, inverse position in this index. In other words, the value of SQQQ moves in the opposite direction of the NASDAQ-100 Index, with a three times multiplier.
The fund was launched on February 9, 2010, and is managed by ProShares, a provider of alternative investment products. It has an expense ratio of 0.95%. This expense ratio is higher than some other ETFs and mutual funds. However, SQQQ is still popular among investors looking for a way to hedge against or profit from declines in the technology sector.
It is important to note that investing in leveraged or inverse funds can be very risky, as numerous factors can significantly impact the returns of these products. Therefore, SQQQ may not be suitable for investors with a low-risk tolerance or a buy-and-hold investment strategy.
