The Direxion Daily S&P 500 Bear 3X Shares ETF (SPXS) seeks daily investment results of 300% of the inverse (-3x) of the daily performance of the S&P 500 Index. It uses swaps and other derivatives to deliver leveraged inverse exposure intended for short-term tactical trading, and is not suitable as a buy-and-hold investment because daily compounding causes returns to diverge significantly from -3x the index over longer periods. The fund launched in November 2008.
