## The numbers
- The diversification ratio is **1.7** at 1Y and **1.88** incept, both around the **79th to 95th percentile** on the platform; that is real diversification, not just a portfolio with more line items.
- Effective asset count is **3.52 of 5**, which says the weights are spread, though not evenly enough to make the bond sleeve pretend it is four separate ideas.
- Pairwise correlations average **0.12**; the portfolio gets most of its diversification from the equity/real-asset/bond split, while IEF and TLT sit in the same weather system.

## What works
- VTI, DBC, and GLD have low or modest correlations with the Treasury sleeve, so the portfolio has several genuinely different return drivers.
- The negative correlations between VTI and Treasuries, and between DBC and Treasuries, give the structure some classical ballast when growth and rates stop agreeing with each other.

## What does not
- IEF (iShares 7-10 Year Treasury Bond ETF) and TLT are highly redundant at **0.92** correlation, so the largest weight pair is really one duration thesis wearing two CUSIPs.
- The bond sleeve is concentrated enough that the portfolio’s risk still leans heavily on the term structure, which is a respectable place to live until rates move in the wrong direction.

## Stress Scenario
- If inflation and growth both re-accelerate, Treasuries, especially TLT, and possibly GLD can stop doing the portfolio’s stabilizing work at the same time.
- The neat cluster structure then becomes visible as a single macro bet: duration down, real assets mixed, equities only partly offsetting the move.
